A drunk man who smelled like beer sat down on a subway next to a priest. The man's tie was stained, his face was plastered with red lipstick, and a half-empty bottle of gin was sticking out of his torn coat pocket. He opened his newspaper and began reading. After a few minutes, the man turned to the priest and asked, "Say, Father, what causes arthritis?"
The priest replies, 'My Son, it's caused by loose living, being with cheap, wicked women, too much alcohol, contempt for your fellow man, sleeping around with prostitutes, and lack of a bath!'

The drunk muttered in response, 'Well, I'll be darn, ' Then returned to his paper.
The priest, thinking about what he had said, nudged the man and apologized. 'I'm very sorry. I didn't mean to come on so strong. How long have you had arthritis?'

The drunk answered, 'I don't have it, Father. I was just reading here that the Pope does.'

Hello my dear friends!
I am sorry for being away for such a long time. My hubby and I are expecting our first baby this summer. And because of that I've been extremely tired for the first few month of the year and just did not have any strength to do anything once I got home from work.
I totally did not make any cards, did not log on to my computer at home and really didn't do any of my normal stuff for few months... Once I got my strength back I had to catch up on so many things that I just didn't have time for cards and the blog at all. And for that - I am so sorry!!!
I'm back now! :) And I am so excited to be entering into the blog world once again.
Today I'm going to share a card I made for my hubby for anniversary last year...
I just love this Cuttlebug folder and thought it would be perfect for the "love" theme card :) "Love" was cut using cricut

Well, that's all I have for today. I'm going to be back with more cards and can't wait to visit each and everyone's blog to check out your gorgeous creations.

Hello everyone!!! Hope you girls had a Wonderful Christmas and got to spend some time with your loved ones. And, of course, hope you received some good stuff from Santa :) I sure have.
But today I just wanted to share a set of cards I made for my hubby's grandmother.

Her name is June. I made a set of 10 cards and used several different colors (but I only took a picure of purple and green). I really like this new Cuttlebug folder - it creates a really nice frame
And I made the box for all those cards

My very first onsie card

My very special friend Denise welcomed her 1st grandson Julian and I wanted to make something nice for her. I've been seeing a lot of the onesies all over the place, but never got to try to make one. So now I finally got a chance to try it out...

I was surprised about how easy it was (just use different circle paper punches) - love it!!!
Here is the side view. I added some stickles (but once again, it's hard to see it)

I already gave it to her and she really liked it. And I enjoyed making it.

Polar bears like pink too

I had this fuchsia card stock and really wanted to use it along with white card stock (cuz I like the combo), but could not picture it for a winter card... that was before I saw this polar bear :) I gave her a pink/fuchsia scarf and liked the way it turned out
I also used 3D paint for the snow. Used a lot of Stickles on the sizzix embossing folder, though it's kind of hard to see it

I was playing with the new Sizzix die I bought and here is what I came up with... I cut "joy" out of burgundy cardstock to use on another card. But this is actually what was left after I pilled my word out and I decided to use it on top of the white cardstock

several layers, but it was so simple :)

Green pointsettias

My today's card is again a Christmas card :) I found this sentiment at create with TLC and just had to use it. I decided to make my pointsettias green. I first went with blue, but it just didn't turn out the way I wanted. I glued my small pointsettias and used pop up dots for the larger pointsettia. Here is the closeup:

I also used rhinestones and beads for the centers of the pointsettias.

Over last few weeks I've been working on the Christmas cards, but just didn't get a chance to post anything here :( Now I'm going to try to catch up and post few of my projects.
Here is one...

Clean and simple card with white and blue cardstock. I used Sizzix embossing folder for the background. I got this folder at JoAnn's and really like these framed snowflakes. Not much coloring here :) but I did use a lot of stickles (though it is hard to see them all on this picture).

Thanksgiving day card...

I made this Thanksgiving card weeks ago, but didn't get a chance to post yet. I have mailed all my Thanksgiving cards out, so now I'll slowly start posting them here :)
I bought these fall theme thick stickers at JoAnn's and wanted to try using them for the "window effect" by putting the stickers inside of the card and punching circles out from the card front.

It's kind of hard to see on this picture, but I used beige cardstock and sprayed it with my gold Glimmer Mist, so it has the shimmer. After it all dried I embossed it with cuttlebug. Not super happy with it, but I really like how embossing looks with the shimmer cardstock :)

Four worms and a lesson to be learned...

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon. Four worms were placed into four separate jars. The first worm was put into a container of alcohol. The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke. The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup. The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.
At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:
The first worm in alcohol - Dead
The second worm in cigarette smoke - Dead
Third worm in chocolate syrup - Dead
Fourth worm in good clean soil - Alive.
So the Minister asked the congregation - What did you learn from this demonstration?
Maxine was sitting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said, 'As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!'
That pretty much ended the service!

Simple birthday card

My today's card was made for a coworker. Very-very simple. I actually got the idea from Cuttlebug challenge blog. The letters were cut using CB alphabet and of course embossed with...cuttlebug :) Since the card was so simple, I used shimmering cardstock and then just added some stickles to the embossed candle flame. And that's it... here is the inside of the card:

I used the same stamp on both, inside of the card and then on the envelope to create a "unified" feel :)

How Beautiful a day can be...

I was away from my computer all last week and have missed you guys so much. I'm sorry I didn't visit your blogs to see your beautiful creations, but I'm catching up right now :)

My hubs was away on a business trip last week and I must admit - it was so hard not to have him here... We've been married for almost 8 years and have never spent a night apart, so to have a whole week without him was pretty hard. I tried to concentrate on work, but nothing seemed to go right there either. Every day of the week something really bad had to happen at work to the point that at the end of the day I would just get in my car, sit there and cry (I wish I had a different job). See normally if I have a bad day - I come home and complain to the hubster, he listens and makes it all better. It was so different when he was away...

Thank God he is back now!!! And I swear, things start to look up now :) I even had a little time to play with my papers :)

I saw this sentiment at Create with TLC and thought it's just perfect!

A lesson of thankfulness

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.
A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words. Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy.
That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?"
The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way." I wrote: "Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it."
Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?
Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear. The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling. And even more beautiful, is knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!

Today I have a very simple card pretty much designed around this beautiful digi stamp. There are just so many possibilites with this image, but I wanted (well, I needed) to come up with a "thinking of you" card, so here is what I did
I sprayed my purple glimmer spray on the piece of white cardstock to add a little bit of sparkle.

Here is the closeup to the image. I colored it, then added sparkle with stickles and used rhinestones for the center of each flower...

THIS IS A NONPARTISAN JOKE THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY BOTH PARTIES!

NOT ONLY THAT-- it is POLITICALLY CORRECT!!

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

The Senator's soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," says the Senator.

St. Peter says, "Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."

"Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the Senator.

"I'm sorry, but we have our rules", replies St.Peter.

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the Devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises...

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

"Now it's time to visit heaven," St Peter says.

So, 24 hours pass with the Senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and the 24 hours in heaven passes by and St Peter returns.

"Well, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now which will you choose for your eternity?" St Peter asks.

The Senator reflects for a minute, then he answers, "Well, I never would have thought it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be happier and better off .. in hell."

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The Devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder.

"I don't understand," stammers the Senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now

there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"

The Devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning..

Today .. you voted."

going apple picking

Hello and happy Wednesday! Hubby and I are going to go to the local orchard for apple picking this weekend and going to see if his parents want to come with. So I made this card for them. Unfortunately I rushed to take a picture of it this morning before putting it in the mail and didn't really check the quality of the photo... and this is what I ended up with... the color of the green paper behind the white paper is not like it was IRL and that just sinks :(I followed Mojo's sketch for this card, used Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background and EK Success border punch. I also added liquid accents for the apples and Stickles on the apple tree trunk...

Yeah, I actually got to play with my papers today :) Hubs and I went to see "Wall Street 2", had lunch and then I got to spend some time in my crafty corner. I was so happy to get to play with all my stuff again...so silly :)
I made this card is for World Card Day challenge at Sassy Studio Designs. The challenge is to: use this sweet image, 1 ribbon, 2 pattern papers, 3 buttons and 4 flowers. So here is my card...

I paper pieced her dress and here is what I did with my ribbon. I used brown satin ribbon, pink flowers and light pink beads. I sew the flowers and beads on the ribbon and then tied it on the bottom...

I used white glitter pen to make the dots on the brown card stock and noticed that one of them got smeared (of course I noticed it when I uploaded the picture here... I'll go fix it now)

Clay balls...

I received this from one of my friends and thought it was beautiful, so I wanted to share with you too...
A man was exploring caves by theSeashore. In one of the caves he found a canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn't look like much, but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could.

He thought little about it, until he dropped one of the clay balls and it cracked open on a rock . Inside was a beautiful, precious stone!

Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay balls he had left.

Then it struck him. He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken home tens of thousands, but he had just thrown it away!

It's like that with people. We look at someone, maybe even ourselves, and we see the external clay vessel. It doesn't look like much from the outside.. It isn't always beautiful or sparkling, so we discount it.

We see that person as less important than someone more beautiful or stylish or well known or wealthy. But we have not taken the time to find the treasure hidden inside that person.

There is a treasure in each and every one of us. If we take the time to get to know that person, and if we ask God to show us that person the way He sees them, then the clay begins to peel away and the brilliant gem begins to shine forth.

May we not come to the end of our lives and find out that we have thrown away a fortune in friendships because the gems were hidden in bits of clay. May we see the people in our world as God sees them.

I am so blessed by the gems of friendship I have with you my dear blogger friends. Thank you for looking beyond my clay vessel.

I am totally in love with this new image from Designed2Delight and had so much fun coloring it (that I even made another one in blue, but I'll take a pic of it later). Anyway, I think this image is so elegant that I didn't want to overwhelm the card by using DP or anything like that, so instead I just used cuttlebug, layering and simple white/silver ribbon. Here is what I came up with Can't just have a card without sparkle though..., so here is the closeup on my stickles...

Here is another card I made for one of my co-workers, well actually for my ex-co-worker :)
She had her babies and her doctor husband just started working for his dad's practice, so she now gets to stay home with her babies. We had a lunch for her and I made a card for all to sign...yes, it opens up in the middle (for some reason I thought it would give more room for people to sign... though it still equals to the same amount of room, he-he-he)

Ok, this one is new for me. I do sew a lot, but have never done that on any of my cards (why? I honestly have no clue), but I added a little bit of sewing on my today's card :) I'm not really super happy about it, but it'll do.Of course once I assembled everything I got an idea that the pink background should have been embossed...oh well...

Hello and thank you or stopping by for a visit. My today's card was made for one of my coworkers. She LOVES animal print, so I just had to use it on her card. Just animal print seemed...boring... so I added a touch of red:Here is the close up... I really liked the flower at first, but then wasn't too happy about the way it turned out. I was going to add another one, but it seemed too much... tried the larger flower - that didn't work either, so I left this one...

I will use this card for a Cuttlebug Challenge - to use a Cuttlebug (I used my cuttlebug for the spellbinders dies) and have 2 layers on the card.

Oak wreath

Today I have a very simple fall card... I thought beige would be a perfect background for the fall card. Don't really like the way my pictures turn out... it kind of looks flat :( I promise, it looks better IRL
Anyway, I colored my wreath and then made another layer that I poped on the dimentionals for more of a 3D effect...

I also used Stickles, but my camera would not pick it up for some reason

Magic of Bounce...

One of my friends sent me this list of helpful hints. I thought it was totally awesome, so I wanted to share them with you. Here it goes:

mail carrier told me that the U.S. Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away. Use them all the time when playing baseball and soccer. I use it when I am working outside. It really works. The insects just veer around you. All this time you've just been putting Bounce in the dryer!
1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.
2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.
4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling..
7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan...
14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.
16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds.. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.
22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe lovebugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

hmm, I'm not too happy about this card and the way the picture turned out (the colors are much more soothing IRL), oh well, here goes:

Creative Inspirations challenge - to use recycled element on card. I'm using beads that came off the necklace I got as a gift few years back :) And buttons are from my hubby's dress shirt (no worries, it's not the one he's wearing, it was on its way out :)

Sympathy card

I actually got to craft a little bit on Sunday, YEAH!! and finally got to play with my Cuttle Bug (oh how I missed it so).
Today I have a sympathy card, actually two, as I made them in two different colors I really need to have some of those on hand, just in case. Those are the type of cards you always hope to never have to use, but unfortunately you do end up needing them :(
Well, here is my card...
The sentiment is printed on the card itself and then the embossed card stock is attached on top of it. I used crocheting yarn around the card to add little more character. There is also a little bit of stickles around the sentiment (though it's hard to see it). This is a dark purple card stock, but unfortunately the color does not show correctly on the picture.
And then I made the blue one...
Here I combined two different folders and also used beads to crisscross my yarn...

I popped those corner rectangles on dimensionals to allow for the yarn to hang, which also helped the beads to not stick out so much :)

Starting to work on Christmas cards...

WOW, it's August already and that means Christmas will be her in just a few months... And I haven't started working on my Christmas stash (nor did I make any Halloween cards yet... gosh, I'm so behind). This week Delightful Inspiration challenged us to make a Christmas card, so here is my first Christmas card using a snowman from the Designed2Delight store...

I used Stickles for sparkle around the heart and "Merry Christmas" and 3D pain for the snow under the snowman...
I'm such a fan of blue, but I just could not color his heart in blue, so I made it red... and then added some red accents between the DP panels.
Well, it feels good to have one Christmas card done :)

Simple anniversary card

My MIL asked me to make a card for her sister's wedding anniversary. The only preference she had was to use red (as that's her sister's favorite color). So I made a very simple card...I used my new border punch and Stickles (don't you just love Stickles? I sure do - it seems they make everything much better!!! )

oh my gosh, where has the time gone? It's the end of July... Can't believe it :)

I've been reading Paulette's blog for last few weeks and always wanted to participate in one of her challenges, but I always get home late and never get enough time to work on something. Today however I had plenty of time and here is my card using her beautiful Gem of the Sea image and sentiment.
I raised the center of the sentiment with dimensionals

This card is also for Aly's Sunday challenge - under or by the sea...

Oh yes, finally - embossed background! :) Though I already had this background and card base.

I know I've been making all these cards for challenges lately...but I try to push myself to play with different images. And I'm really going to start pushing myself to use different sketches (I'm so bad with following sketches, so I know that's something I need to work on).
My today's card is for Delightful Inspiration challenge using their stamp "Mice Day"I colored the flower in yellow to resemble the cheese and added dimentionals to pop it up

My goodness, I just noticed that I haven't use my sweet little Cuttlebug for sometime... something is definately wrong with me, must be all that heat :) I'll have to definately use it on my next project!

Today's card is for Delightful Inspiration using a "Cluck". You can find this image here. I could not decide what I wanted to do with this Chickie and then I saw this paper from my DCWV stack and it came to me :) I could not think of a sentiment, so I left it without one for now... if it comes to me later - I'll add it later, or just leave it as is :)
I'm also going to use this card for Lily-Boo Challenge - to make a summer theme card...
This card is also for Double Delight challenge. This week the challenge is to "Pop It Up" with dimensionals. I've never tried breaking up the image to pop it up like that before, so this is a first one for me. Here is the close up on my dimentionals and 3D effect

Hope you guys like it. This was my first attempt on 3D, but I have to say that I really like the way it makes the image look. It looked harder than it really was, so I think I'll be doing it again :)

This card is for a sketch challenge at SassyStudioDesign. After I took a picture of this card I realized that last 3 cards I made are all blue...hmm, I wonder what my is favorite color :)

I had no clue what sentiment to use :) And since I have an anniversary coming up (my hubby and I exchange cards on monthly basis) I thought I would do "Anniversary" :)

Another week and another challenge at Designed2Delight. This time it is to use digi image "Vino" and for challenge at DoubleDelight, which is to use embossing (so I figured I'll use my new Cuttlebug)I attempted to make my own paper by printing "In vino veritas" ("the truth is in the wine" in latin) in different fonts and colors, embossed and used different blue chalks... but it didn't work :( Well, may be next time!

I layered the flower and then curled up the ends of the petals (sorry, it's hard to see it on this pic).

I could not decide on a sentiment and then I discovered the sentiments from Create with TLC and absolutely fell in love with them. And I think it goes perfect with the image :)

How to Give a Pill to a Cat and to a Dog

Ok, this one if for any of you that may not be having the best day/week/month (or like me - not the best year...), hope it gives you a good laugh :)

1. Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby.

Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat’s mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa.

Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3. Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.

4. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand.

Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe.

Call spouse in from the garden.

6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws.

Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail.

Get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit.

Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw

9. Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans and drink one beer to take taste away. Apply band-aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10. Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed.

Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door onto neck, to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour shot, drink.

Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12. Call fire department to retrieve the damn cat from the top of the tree across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat.

Take last pill from foil wrap.

13. Using heavy-duty pruning gloves from shed, tie the little *&#%^'s front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of filet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour two pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

14. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room. Sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

15. Arrange for RSPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and call local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

How To Give A Dog A Pill

1. Wrap it in bacon.

2. Toss it in the air

I love cats (and dogs) so I want to assure you that no kitties were hurt over this post! :)

Sassy Birthday card and trying out for a DT

Hope you guys are having a great week. Mine has been super busy and unfortunately that's why I didn't get to stamp or visit your blogs. But today I made sure to take some time to create this card...
As I have mentioned before I absolutely love-love-love Sassy Studio Design images, and now they have a DT call. OMG, I was so excited and just had to give it a shot. I'm sure they'll get so many applications from many super talented people, but you never know until you try... right? So here is my card... I used my new Cuttlebug folder (it is from Asian collection). It's kind of hard to see, but the rhinestones I used around my image are light pink. I also used liquid glaze for her eyes.

Well, I'm totally keeping my fingers crossed :) Please keep yours crossed for me too!

YEAH!!! :) Today I wanted to share the Cuttlebug folder that I used on my last card. It was a folder from a Disney's Micki bundle, I used the one on the right, as I think it gives a nice border.

I found mine on ebay for like under $2.00 (with shipping!!!). Hope you guys will be able to find a good deal on yours too. If you find an awesome deal on embossing folders - please let me know too, as I'm obsessed with them right now and always looking for a good deal :)

BTW did you see the new collection that they have? It should hit the stores June-July... can't wait :)

One detail that is rarely mentioned is that in Washington , D.C.,there can never be a building of greater height than the Washington Monument . With all the uproar about removing the ten commandments, etc., this is worth a moment or two of your time. I was not aware of this amazing historical information. On the aluminum cap, atop the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. , are displayed two words : Laus Deo.No one can see these words. In fact, most visitors to the monument are totally unaware they are even there and for that matter, probably could care less. Once you know Laus Deo's history , you will want to share this with everyone you know. These words have been there for many years; they are 555 feet, 5.125 inches high, perched atop the monument, facing skyward to the Father of our nation, overlooking the 69 square miles which comprise the District of Columbia, capital of the United States of America.Laus Deo!

Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words. Out of sight and, one might think, out of mind, but very meaningfully placed at the highest point over what is the most powerful city in the most successful nation in the world. So, what do those two words, in Latin, composed of just four syllables and only seven letters, possibly mean? Very simply, They say " Praise be to God!"Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848, when James Polk was President of the United States , it was not until 1888 that the monument was inaugurated and opened to the public. It took twenty-five years to finally cap the memorial with a tribute to the Father of our nation, Laus Deo. "Praise be to God!" From atop this magnificent granite and marble structure, visitors may take in the beautiful panoramic view of the city with its division into four major segments. From that vantage point, one can also easily see the original plan of the designer, Pierre Charles l'Enfant...a perfect cross imposed upon the landscape, with the White House to the north. The Jefferson Memorial is to the south, the Capitol to the east and the Lincoln Memorial to the west.

A cross you ask? Why a cross? What about separation of church and state? Yes, a cross; separation of church and state was not, is not, in the Constitution. So, read on. How interesting and, no doubt, intended to carry a profound meaning for those who bother to notice. Praise be to God! Within the monument itself are 898 steps and 50 landings. As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings the memorial stones share a message. On the 12th Landing is a prayer offered by the City of Baltimore; On the 20th is a memorial presented by some Chinese Christians; On the 24th a presentation made by Sunday School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10 : 7, Luke 18 : 16 and Proverbs 22 : 6 Praise be to God! When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848 deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society.

Praise be to God! Such was the discipline, the moral direction, and the spiritual mood given by the founder and first President of our unique democracy "One Nation, Under God." I am awed by Washington 's prayer for America Have you ever read it? Well, now is your unique opportunity, so read on!"Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. When one stops to observe the inscriptions found in public places all over our nation's capitol, he or she will easily find the signature of God, as it is unmistakably inscribed everywhere you look. You may forget the width and height of "Laus Deo ", its location, or the architects but no one who reads this will be able to forget its meaning, or these words : "Unless the Lord builds the house its builders labor in vain.. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain." (Psalm 127 : 1)

I know, I've been away for so long - I'm so sorry. This month has been so crazy for me and I can't hardly get any time to craft or get on my laptop to browse your beautiful creations. But I promise, I will make some time to visit your blogs and see what you girls have been working on.

This whole week I only made one card and here it is. I made it for another coworker for her birthday... For those who watched Sienfeld - you will understand the reference to "Serenity now" :)

I noticed that I hardly use buttons on my cards, so I had to work the buttons into the mix.

I also used Stickles around Happy Birthday and on her shirt.

another 4th of july card

I posted a similar card few days ago (I made them both on the same day), but wanted to share this one as well. I don't like making identical cards, so I had to change just a fewthings around :)
Her hair is different and the ribbon is placed differently :)

I really like this image and it's always great to play with it. Well, now I have 2 cards made for 4th of July and about 10 more to go :)

I made this one for my hubby's parents... The image is a digi stamp - Ava from InStyleStamps, but unfortunately they had to discontinue her, so she came to live in my house :)
She originally had 4 balloons, but I erased one to make room for "USA"

I also used glossy accents for her eyes and stickles for her wings.

I made this card forMother's day for my dear friend. She wanted to be a mom for so long and along with her hubby they went through a lot to become parents to two sweet little babies last year. So this is her first Mother's day, so I wanted to send her something cute :) I used double sided DP - I think it was met for a baby shower (oh well). Then I found this sparkly ribbon, but for some reason on this picture it looks a bit darker...

I just love this digi from InStyleStamps, her name is Ava, but unfortunately they discontinued her last month (so I went and bought several of them)...

I punched these flowers out, added glitter and curled the ends up

Administrative assistant day...

Last Wednesday (April 21) was the Administrative Assistant day and I made this card for the sweet girl at my work. She's always so sweet and I wanted to let her know how thankful we all are. So I made the card and had everyone at the office sign it. I really like this image by SassyStudioDesigns and thought it would be perfect for the occasion :) Her dress is paper pieced from beautiful DP (thanks to my dear friend Micki) and the horizontal stripes are made from matching ribbon. I originally planned to tie them in little bows, but the ribbon was too stiff, so I just layered it on top of the red card stock...

and for all of your shoe lovers (me, me, me) - here is the close up on her sparkly high heels :)

I added texture to the white cardstock using my CuttleBug and new folder from Asian collection.

I'm going to enroll this card into SassyStudio challenge (to use black, white and one more color).

I truly feel that I'm so behind on everything and totally hate it... Though I'm glad I was able to find some time to craft a little bit today... I made this card for Delightful Inspiration challenge. The awesome part of this challenge is the fact that you get a free digital stamp for the 1st week and if you participate in the challenge - you'll receive another free digital stamp (and so on). How cool is that??? :)
I used double sided textured pink card stock from Michaels (they had sale 5 for $1) and little touch of yellow...
I used stickles for the flower centers, but it's really hard to see it

My today's card is for SassyStudioDesigns challenge. I made this card for my MIL who spent two days with me at the hospital and has been calling to check up on me every day since.
The challenge this week is to follow the challenge, which I flipped sideways and here is what I came up with...
The paper I used had a lot of glitter and I used more glitter around other elements
I also decorated my own brads...They were silver, so I painted them in green, added glitter and hot pink rinestone in the middle...

I did get a chance to craft today and made this card for Delightful Inspiration challenge. This image is free and if you participate in the challenge this week - you'll get another free image for a following week, so it's a pretty cool deal :)
It's kind of hard to see on this photo, but I used light purple chalk on the edges of the scalloped card stock and then light blue on the edges of the image... I also used dimensionals to make the image pop...

IN honor of women's history month and in memory of Erma Bombeck who lost her fight with cancer.

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck (written after she found out she was dying from cancer).

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, 'Later. Now go get washed up for dinner.' There would have been more 'I love you's' More 'I'm sorry's.'

But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute.look at it and really see it . live it and never give it back.

STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF!!! Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.

OMG, I who would've ever known...
Monday evening I went to the urgent care with stomach pain, and they rushed me to the ER where they told me I had appendicitis and it had to be operated on ASAP. "Holly crap" (were my exact words), because I thought it was my occasional stomach pains and I was actually going to stay home and tough it out... my husband was the one to drag me to the Urgent care. So my husband just saved my life...
Moral of this story: Listen to your hubby, he might be a guy, but sometimes he knows what he's talking about
At about 2am on Tuesday morning I had my surgery, went to ICU at 4am and later on moved to the regular room where I stayed until late Wednesday.
I am home now and soooo happy to have my own bed and my own pillow :) And the shower has never felt this good before :)
Anyway, thank you for listening! Be thankful for your health when you have it and if something ever is not right - have it checked out. The type of pain I had was not your "usual" appendix symptoms at all, so I would have never thought it would be appendix... Anyway, if something goes wrong - have it checked out. It is always better to know. :)

Birthday card for a neighbor girl

My MIL asked me to make a card for a neighbor's daughter for her birthday. She told me that this girl's favorite colors are orange and pink ... and she is a girly-girl. So I figured I would make a card with a 3D dress.
So I made a skirt using tulle the same way you would making a real tutu. I used orange and pink (though it's harder to see pink on this picture). Then I cut out a tank top, added glitter and attached them together... For the background I used Sizzix embossing folder. I always wanted to try sizzix embossing folders (because of the designs they have that are different from Cuttlebug), but I only have a cuttlebug and didn't want to spend money on another machine. I searched everywhere, but could not find any information online to see if I could use the Sizzix embossing folders in a Cuttlebug. Anyway, I decided to just take a chance and buy them....
Well, the bottom line - yes, you can use Sizzix embossing folders in your Cuttlebug machine, but you have to use a much-much thicker card stock (other wise it will rip).
Have you girls used Sizzix folders? Would love to hear what you have to say!

Yes! I finally completed all my Easter cards and mailed them all out early this week. I feel like I am so behind on things (I totally screwed up my Valentine's Day cards and St. Patty's...), but at least I finished my Easter cards :)
These are super easy cards (I kinda cheated) by using magazine photos :) My hubby once ordered some flowers where they deliver to your home, so now that company sends me their catalogs, and OMG, their pictures are really nice and their paper is nice and thick - sooo I figured why not to put it to use? So I did and here are my cards:
I like this one the best... I like this pink and purple combo :)

As you see I used the same cuttlebug folder for all of them and just used different colors...

Last weekend I realized that I only made one Easter card so far... and Easter is this Sunday...
So I made few cards last weekend to mail to all family members. Here are two very simple ones that I made ... Printed "Happy Easter" on vellum and attached it to the card with brads...

also for more sparkle I traced the paper design (stripes on the 1st one and flower on the 2nd one) with stickles. I like how you can see sparkle under the vellum and without it... :)

testing new cuttlebug folder

yeah, I finally got this new Cuttlebug folder (I try to buy mine for under $3.50, so I was waiting for it to be available at Hobby Lobby and use a coupon). Now that I have it - I got a chance to play with it. I thought it would be perfect for a birthday card, so I made two...

This one has a sentiment layered on red and put in the middle of the embossed image... The second one I has a sentiment layered on dimentionals It's really dark burgundy (though it looks black on this picture)

and then I traced some of the swirls with Stickles.

I've been wanting to change my blog background for some time. And then this Friday I received an email from Blogger support team announcing that they have a new program to help you change your templates, backgrounds and all. I just had to play with it. They sure do offer a lot of different backgrounds (I so totally could not make my mind, so I just went with the blue) :)
But the main thing - I always wanted to have a 3 column layout and now I can. For some reason I got into note cards lately. I guess it's because I've been using them a lot lately and feel I should have more on hand, so I don't have to rush and make one last minute...

So I made two versions. Here is one:

And here is the second one. Instead of a ribbon I used brown yarn and blue beads. I also didn't round the corners and didn't put a sentiment on the front...

Now I'm starting my stash of note cards again (4 down and more to go) :)

... the weekends always fly by way too fast... can't wait for this weekend....

I've been slacking on whole lot of crafty stuff, including GlitterBees challenges. My dear Glitter Bee friends, I am sorry for that and I'll try harder from now on :)
For this challenge we are suposed to use three colors: Orange, teal and peach
Ok, I never thought it would be this hard to find peach and teal paper in my stash ... I know, I know I could have gone to the store, but I so wanted to work on the card right there and then, so I had to do with what I had. And here we go, here is my card: Yes, it's mainly orange, but there is peach in the center and then teal ribbon... :) I used glossy accents and stickles for the bubbles, so it's kind of shiny and sparkly IRL.

I could not decide on bunny's color, so I just went with light gray and paper pieced his sweater. Not super happy with this card, but don't really know what exactly to change...may be the whole thing :)

New sign of Stroke

I received it from someone and wanted to pass it along. This is great information and so easy to remember...

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ..she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the eveningIngrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ.
Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.
It only takes a minute to read this...
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)(i.e. It is sunny out today.)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS..
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue
NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this information and sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved...

Sympathy card

Someone at work asked me to make a sympathy card for their friend, so I had to make one quickly. I remember seeing the idea somewhere on the web or one of the magazines and always wanted to try to layer vellum on top of the image, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I printed bouquet and colored it with different shades of purple. Then I embossed vellum with "with deepest sympathy" with dark purple then I added a little piece of folded ribbon on top of the vellum. Overall I was happy with the technique and thought of many other ways to use it.

Alice in Wonderland

Ok, I have a confession to make - I am so SUPER excited and crazy about the new movie "Alice in Wonderland" coming out. It is coming out this Friday, so guess where I'm going this weekend? Oh yeah in 3D baby!
Sassy Studio Designs had a whole line of new stamps dedicated to "Alice in Wonderland" and I am happy that someone else is just as excited about this movie as I am :)
I'm participating in their challenge (the challenge was to create some version of Wonderland and no ordinary cards are accepted), and I do apologize for a lot of pics on this post :) Here is my card: Here is the hat without the cat.... I printed and embossed the Cheshire cat on a clear acetate, so it's easy for it to be there and disappear....

Here is the look inside... I hand drew 2 hats and then used a 2" fold between the hats (to allow for all the 3D pop ups and stairs)
I glued another piece of card stock and layered it with grass DP to give other characters somewhere to stand. I also folded the brims in to help the card stand on its own (and layered it with grass DP).
Those are the stairs in the back. I didn't make them perfect, as I picture things in Wonderland little bit crooked :)

Here is my Sassy Mad Hatter. I decided to use whole lot of colors on her (since she's technically mad) And I glued one of her feet to the grass (so that when I fold the card she'll easily fold as well)

Here is the close up on my roses. I used red roses DP for the background and layered these three white roses that are being painted into red. I used diamond glaze to make it looks like "wet paint", but it's hard to see on this picture

For the table I used this fancy lace, bling and buttons (complements of my dear friend Micki)

And here is the view of my card when it's folded. As you see it's kind of bulky, that's why I put 2" fold between the hats to allow for all things to neatly fold.

You can use it on a foam or plastic eggs, but for now I used it on a regular one just to see how it would fit :)
And here are few other angles from the side and the bottom. I'm going to try to play with other colors as well

Little bit of Rock N' Roll...

My today's card is for SassyStudioDesign challenge. The question was - are you little bit of Country or a little bit of Rock N' Roll? Hmm, I really not either one, but if i had to choose then it would be Rock N' Roll...

Here is the close up on my "belt". I thought leather belt and chains would be a perfect combo for a Rock card :) I was surprised how easy it was to make my "leather" :) It is a card stock strip, then I put diamond glaze all over it. And when it was almost dry I wrapped it around my finger and ran it back and forth - and that's how the crackle was created... Then I added different brads and chains

I wanted to do black and red (my stereotype of Rock N' Roll), but I found this paper in my DCWV stack, so I went with it and picked up colors from it. Then I just added whole lot of brads

Mardi Gras

Couple weeks ago I mentioned that I was working on a special project for my friend? Well finally I'm posting my pictures :) She is a big fan of Mardi Gras, so she asked me to make an adult tutu for her. However she didn't want volume, instead she wanted it to hang down. So here is what I came up with: And then to go with it I decided to make a card for her too :)

and to go with the theme I made a little skirt for the card as well

and used gold paint for the tips (to resemble the golden bells on the actual skirt)
I also used pieces of purple, green and yellow card stock under the white card stock embossed with CB.

She really enjoyed it and I definitely enjoyed playing with both, skirt and a card :)

Sunday card

Hope you're enjoying your Sunday. Hubby and I went to see a movie today...Shutter Island - wow, great movie by Martin Scorsese. I was expecting one thing and was totally surprised at the end. Then we had a visit with my in-laws. But then I got to play in my crafty corner :)

...I made this card for a Delightful Inspiration challenge using this beautiful stamp. I wanted to just use different shades of blue for the flowers, but then decided I need something bright and colorful. I'm getting tired of this winter and can't wait for spring :) So I decided on using these colors...
I also decided to only color around the teapot with light blue instead of coloring the whole thing :) and I used paint for the centers of the flowers Very simple. And I really liked this teapot, so I'm sure I'll be using it a lot more in the future!

I made this card for Aly's challenge, which this time was to use a cat somewhere on your card. I used this greeting farm stamp (with a sweet kitten) and here is the card I made
For background texture I used cuttlebug folder and used stickles for sparkle :) I could not think of a sentiment, but then thought "Friend" would be the most appropriate. I didn't have any just friend cards on hand, so this will be great for those moments when you need to send a card to a friend :)

Today I have a sassy card that I made for a Sassy Studio Designs challenge. The challenge is to use three hearts and a lot of sparkle. So here is my card:
I decided to use my hearts as air balloons (I used dimentionals) :) It was hard to take a picture to capture all the sparkle, so I had to take two (of different angles).

Hope you enjoy! I always enjoy playing with these sassy stamps - they are just so darling :)

Wednesday is a half way point, so only two work days left. YEAH!!!! :)

It's been snowing here a whole day (well, not too hard, but nice snowflakes were falling down) - and it looked so very, but so bright (I even had to close the blinds on my office window) :) Overall a great day and I even got to craft a little bit after work.
I made this card for Delightful Inspiration challenge using these beautiful digital images...

It's really hard to see on the picture, but I used gold glitter for the candle light and bees. I also used 3D paint for icing...

I glued flowers under and all around the sentiment, and then used dimentionals. Add glittah and rhinestones (gotta have those sparkles) and done! I'm not super happy with the size of my sentiment (it turned out bigger than I planned)...well, I'll know better for next time!

Happy Valentine's day, my dear blogging friends!!!!
My goodness it came way too fast, I didn't even have time to plan things... so we had a nice and quiet day here, just hubby and me - but what else do you need, right? :)
Here is the card I made for him:

I think she is so cute :) I love brown squirrels, so I colored her brown and used different glitters for sparkle.

I'm finishing up my project for my friend, so I don't have a card to share yet, but wanted to share a funny I received from my MIL...

Two businessmen in Florida were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new store.. As yet, the store wasn't ready, with only a few shelves set up. One said to the other, "I bet any minute now some senior is going to walk by, put his face to the window, and ask what we're selling."
No sooner were the words out of his mouth when, sure enough, a curious senior walked to the window, had a peek, and in a soft voice asked, "What are you sellin' here?"
One of the men replied sarcastically, "We're selling assholes."
Without skipping a beat, the old timer said,"Must be doing well ... only two left.."

Yeah... I mailed my Valentine's day cards!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope you all are enjoying your week and the weather is nice. It stopped snowing here and sun came out, so it was such a nice day! Well, at least that's what I thought when I looked out of my office window :)
I mailed out my Valentine's Day cards (finally) and here are two of them. I made them using nontraditional colors....I know blue!?! :) I haven't used my embossing powder for few months, so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity.
And orange...?! oohhh yeah!
I dry embossed "love" using my fiskars big boss, which I haven't used for few months either. So it was fun using those good "old" toys :)
This week I'm working on one cool project for my friend and hope to finish it soon and to be able to show you the pictures soon.
